History: Born the son of a fallen angel and human female, Elijah was a Nephilim from birth. This fact was hidden from everybody as he didn't show any signs of his fatherhood, though many suspected it because of the fact that his mother never named or claimed a father for Elijah. Despite the way Elijah was born, his mother was normally a good, religious woman, and after the one incident, continued to raise her son that way, making Elijah far different from any other nephilim to exist. He believed in God, and good and evil and choose to be good instead of evil, a trait unique to him amongst all nephilim. However, come his nineteenth birthday, his nephilim side appeared as enormous black feathered wings sprouting from his shoulder blades. This obviously was noticeable by everybody, and marked him inhuman and they claimed he was a demon and devil, an abomination. He was outcast from his family and town, and hunted by many people who tired to find him and kill him. Living alone and in hiding, Elijah learned to live on his own, in hiding. He learned how to track and fight and hide, though he tried his best to never kill anybody. Finally, one day his luck ran out and and he was captured. Taken before a sort of court martial, Elijah was found guilty of black magic and demon worship. He was taken outside the city, and was stoned to death. As he lay dying, a woman knelt beside him and whispered in his ear. "Hold still, and I will save you." The female bared her fangs, and sank them into Elijah's neck, pumping vampire venom into the Nephilim's veins. Elijah moaned in a combination of pain and relief as the pain slowly began to fade, and his world went black around his eyes.
Elijah awoke in a cave, a fire crackling before him. A female sat across from the fire, a male beside her. Groaning, he slowly sat up and looked around. The female and male before him quickly explained to him. He was a vampire now. That he must feed himself through blood to survive. But these two vampires, survived by drinking the blood of animals instead of humans, attempting to hang on to the last remaining remaining remnants of their own humanity. So the three lived for several centuries, drinking the blood of animals. The three lived and Elijah and the female who had turned him, whose name was Ashalaia fell in love. However, one day the group was found and instead of destroying the last of their humanity by killing the humans and fighting back they where all captured by the humans and sentenced to death for being killers and devils and demons. All three where staked through their hearts with silver tipped stakes and beheaded. Years passed, a great flood cleansed the earth and Nephilim and vampires where forgotten. Humanity continued, and the world changed. Thousands of years passed, but three gravestones remained, embedded upon the earth upon the side of a mountain with only three first names engraved upon each stone. Elijah, Ashalaia, and Dastian upon each stone and no last names.
Thousands of years later, a powerful necromantic wizard upset several clans of vampires and lycanthropes. He became a hunted man, and decided to creature his own personal guards. Making his way to the small local cemetery, the mage walked his way through the cemetery, glancing around he found the three oldest tombstones. Written upon them where only three names, no last names at all. The mage knew that tombstones in the old days like this where full of superstitions.Last names where not written upon the names of tombstones of criminals, demons, and devil worshipers to prevent them from coming back to life. Stupid superstitions, ho would that prevent him from bringing these three back from the dead. Gathering his supplies, the male began his spell. He quickly raised the three vampires, then continued his tampering. Quickly, the male created what could only be the perfect killer as he saw it. He created the gagoulya. Three of them from the once dead vampires.
The gagoulya where powerful. The ease with which vampires and lycanthropes can tear a human apart is the same ease that the gagoulya would tear apart a vampire, lycanthrope, demon, or any other mythological creatures. They had super strength and speed and reflexes. Each had wings, allowing them to fly. They had dermal armor, so tough and durable their skin was practically invincible, impervious to any known physical attack. Their retractable nails where strong enough to shred steel and concrete. They could exhale a powerful stream of fire up to fifteen feet with the heat to turn concrete to molten lava and melt steel.
The gagoulyas where undead creatures, and as such had no need to breath, or sleep, or sleep. With that in mind, the mage decided to make also able to operate as some of the most magnificent spies this world had ever seen. He gave them chameleon like abilities, able to take on their background and surrounds to the point where even the texture of their skin would change to blend them in perfectly. To enhance this feature, their aura fluctuates to allow who ever looks upon them to see them as one of their own species. Last, each gagoulye could shape shift their human form to blend in better with the crowd as well. However, the down side to all this power was as just like vampires did not like the sunlight, neither did the gagouyles. Their eyes where super sensitive to light. Although they had perfect vision in the dark and at night, bright lights would scorch their retinas causing excruciating agony.
Elijah, Ashalaia, and Dastian worked perfectly. Operating as the team they use to be thousands of years ago despite their lose of memories. They decimated the mage's enemies, ripping entire clans apart, while creating more gagoulyes. The ancient venom running through their fangs still had the power to convert other beings into gagoulyes like themselves, however few survived the extraordinary painful transformation that ripped their bodies apart. Only one in five people survived the transformations, if that. However, with enough attempts, their ranks swelled to eleven gagouyles in all, until every enemy of the their mage master's enemies where destroyed. Hundreds of vampires and lycans fell beneath the power of the gagouyles.
However, the whole sale destruction of vampires and lycans attracted the attention of another mage. Using sorcery and bribery, the mage slaughtered four of the eleven gagouyles, and converted another four to his own cause leaving only Elijah, Ashalaia, and Dastian with their master. In the enormous battle that ensued, the three friends defeated their four offspring and their new master, but at a great price. Ashalaia and Dastian where lost, mortally wounded as was their master. As their dying enemy mage took his last breath, he cursed Elijah, turning the gagouyle into a great stone monstrosity, sealed for all eternity as a monolith of stone.
Years passed, and civilization crept slowly up the mountain. A town was built, and a church erected at it's heart upon the ground where the battle took place and nothing grew around the stone monster. As words do, the name of the thing changed from time, and the gargoyle was raised ponderously and placed upon the top of the church, reminding the towns people of the power of demons and magic. For hundreds of years, the church remained upon the spot as the town grew and shrank, changed and reverted. Things that should not have been forgotten where, and the reason the church, and the stone gargoyle where eventually forgotten with time, till it was nothing but an edifice, a antique tourist attraction and nothing more. And there Elijah remained, unchanged with time in a catatonic state of suspended animation as he awaited to be awoken.
